At the heart of Watchmaking

At the heart of watchmaking

Nowadays you just have to turn on a computer, mobile phone, oven door or microwave to check the time…
Time is everywhere.

Competition is huge. People predicted the end of watches but…despite its ups and downs, the watchmaking industry has stayed strong and adapted to changes in the markets and client expectations.

« One of the greatest jobs in the world is being a watchmaker. To be a good watchmaker, you have to be a sculptor and painter, understand materials, master everything from the tiny movement to cutting-edge electronics with technique and accuracy. The watchmaker embodies the qualities inherent in an artist, artisan, engineer, micro-engineer and more.

When his work is over, there is something even better and more exciting: the finished product, the watch. The watch is one of few emotional products that reflect both the personality of its maker and that of its wearer.

I love watches. I admire the job of the watchmaker as he takes care of time… Time that I love because, as an entrepreneur in the watch industry, it gives me the chance to create new products and give them soul. Time that I hate because I cannot hold onto it or stop it… »
